Build a fence S.T.E.A.M challenge

Today's challenge is a math area and perimeter challenge. The students were given a piece of grid paper as their base. Then they had to tell us the area of their garden. Next they were given index cards, Popsicle sticks and some tape to create their fence/ Perimeter around their garden. I did this challenge individually where each student made a fence. You can do it in groups if you want it's totally up to you. The kids had a blast and they learned about area and perimeter in the process.
