Description

This is a 21 day Google Slide that includes some background information about an African American (some alive, some passed on) as well as some video clips (all YouTube), and then a writing prompt per day. There are authors, artists, entrepreneurs, actors, politicians, etc. Students get a small dose a informational text about the person and then they are asked to write about the person, or about the qualities that person embodies that enabled them to achieve such greatness. Examples: Rosa Parks, Gabby Douglas, Marc Hannah, Barack Obama, and many more!

This helps students celebrate February as Black History month but also gets them thinking about the qualities of success. I'm also including the writing prompts on the last 3 slides in case you'd like to copy, print, and cut those for each student to glue into their writer's notebook. That's how I taught it this year. The Google Slide will be editable in case you'd like to add people.

See also, my separate BIOGRAPHY Project for students to emulate the structure of these slides, but go out and research their own person (I encouraged students to choose someone from their own culture so we could celebrate and learn about many different countries).
