What mystery are students trying to solve?
- At a birthday party, 5 friends each brought one gift for the birthday child. Figure out which friend (Marcia, Dwayne, Annette, Jack, Sam) brought which gift (fishing pole, books, art kit, science kit, basketball) and in what order the gift was opened (first, second, third, fourth, fifth).
What is a math mystery?
- Students solve 20 problems
- Each problem has 3 answer choices
- Each answer choice has a clue to the mystery
- After the student has all 20 clues, they will be able to solve the mystery
