ALIGNED Decodable Passages Science of Reading Fluency and Comprehension: Step 2

Help your students increase their reading fluency using these decodable passages that completely align with Step 2 of the Orton-Gillingham-based scope and sequence from The Multisensory Classroom. These passages give your students valuable practice reading words containing only learned phonograms/skills.

Each decodable passage highlights a specific phonogram/skill and builds upon previously learned words so you can move through the scope and sequence with confidence knowing your students are getting multisensory, structured, cumulative instruction.

All products in The Multisensory Classroom, including these passages, are designed to follow Orton Gillingham-based instruction and are derived from my Orton Gillingham Academy accredited training and my doctoral dissertation research implementing Orton Gillingham in the classroom.

This Step 2 decodable passage resource includes:

1. Step 2 Decodable Passage Cover Page- Designed with the same color scheme as Step 2 of The Multisensory Classroom Scope and Sequence for quick and easy organization of your OG lesson prep materials.

2. Table of Contents- Includes the title of each decodable passage, its emphasized phonogram/skill, and its page number in the resource.

3. Common Core Standards- Includes a table of the Common Core K-3 Reading: Foundational Skills standards for each story and its emphasized phonogram/skill.

4. Decodable Stories and Comprehension Worksheets

• Decodable stories- All words in each story contain an emphasized phonogram/skill from the sub-steps in Step 2 of The Multisensory Classroom Scope and Sequence and build upon phonograms/skills introduced in previous sub-steps.

• Comprehension Worksheets- Worksheets for each passage assess student reading comprehension and phonics knowledge.
