Description

A royalty free one-act play for middle and high school students by award-winning playwright Kendra Thomas. Once the script is purchased, it may be copied and used freely. Every day, students from all walks of life make their way to and from school. Each of these journeys contains a story and a hidden meaning. Sierra, a girl from a divorced family, strikes up a friendship with Jamie, who is grappling with her parents' impending divorce and the distance it's created between her and her father. Tate, a young boy, finds comfort and guidance from Makayla, who becomes a reassuring presence during his walks to school. Lily learns about the benefits of public transportation from Benjamin and begins to see riding the bus in a new light. Chris is proud of the purchase of his first truck, something that shows him his big dreams are possible. Noah, a skateboarder, shares his passion for skating and where it came from with a new friend, Mia, while Jazmin and Mia, longtime friends, share a close bond that is realized when they experience a car accident together, leading Jazmin to realize the true value of their friendship. The play highlights the power of empathy, compassion, and mutual support in overcoming life's challenges and emphasizes the importance of cherishing the relationships that sustain us.
