What educators are saying

This is such a great resource to help my students practice their reading comprehension skills independently. Thanks!
These passages are terrific for students to find the information "right there" in the text. Stories are very engaging.

Description

This product contains 21 reading comprehension passages with questions that target fluency and comprehension. The 21 reading passages are presented twice, in 2 versions, for easy differentiation. The passages can also be used digitally as an Easel activity.

Version 1 asks the kids to answer each question in a complete sentence and color the evidence in the text. Version 2 teaches the kids to look in the text and find the text evidence without writing a sentence.

The students will have to:

*read the passage 3 times and color a star after each reading (for fluency)

*read each question and color/ highlight the sentence within the text that contains the answer

*write the answer using a complete sentence (version 1)

*draw a picture that matches the text (version 2)

The texts have different levels of difficulty for differentiation. This lesson asks the students to go back in the text to prove their answer. This is a pretty hard skill for 1st grade and needs plenty of modelling.
