Why Are Trees Green?
A fun, engaging lesson on what makes trees green. The lesson introduces the concepts of how sunlight comprises a range of colors and how sunlight is absorbed by the leaves of trees. By the chlorophyll in the leaves not being able to absorb the color green, that color is reflected back to us and we therefore see leaves as green.

Little Artist Lesson Monet Lily Pads Project
Students will use simple shapes and concepts while learning how to create their own version of French artist Claude Monet's Lily Pad paintings. Basic materials that most classrooms have are the only things necessary to accomplish great results! This lesson is one I use with my kindergarten classes; but it could easily be used with older grades. It is amazing how the students enjoy painting the pond water and seeing the results of the oil pastel resist.
