With this cross discipline activity, students practice the reasoning behind addition and subtraction of integers without the stress of numbers. They conceptualize adding as giving and subtracting as taking away, then conceptualize positive as a desirable stimulus and negative as an aversive stimulus. This activity relates to psychology as it is based on the concept of Classical Conditioning by B.F. Skinner (positive and negative reinforcements and punishments).
