This is a good thinking activity to help students to develop their reasoning and explaining skills in history.They have to 'make the middle box happen'. In the middle box is the fact that the Normans won the Battle of Hastings. In the boxes on the outside are reasons why this happened. Students could just draw a line from each cause to the middle box - this would be accurate but does not explain how some causes led to other causes.
