Students will practice their measuring and ruler skills by measuring how many inches each plant is. I created this lesson for my evaluation last year with my first graders and they absolutely LOVED it! It includes measuring with rulers and nonstandard units(paper clips and linking cubes); measuring classroom objects; number bonds to add up and create word problems; creating a math story; and some questions after watching a video about the life cycle of a butterfly. We used Engage NY last year so it coincides right along with it! Enjoy!!
