Composing Do Re Mi with Simple rhythms C D E Boomwhackers - Elementary Music
This resource helps your students create 8- and 16-beat phrase using Do Re and Mi with quarter notes, paired eighth notes, and quarter rests. I have color coordinated the notes to match C, D, and E for boomwhackers. The “infinite cloner” makes it easy to write whatever melody students want and then perform it with ease!

FREE Musical Instrument Sort
This is a Notebook file I created to begin talking to students about the different ways we can make sounds from musical instruments.
When you click on each image of the instruments, the appropriate noise is made (ie someone drumming, a guitar playing). Simply play each one and have students decide how that instrument is played. Fall Voice Warm-up - Elementary Music - Pitches So Mi La - Singing Warmup
This is a quick and simple voice warm up I use for reinforcing pitch icons. There are purposefully no sound files, so you can change the intervals and key to fit your lesson. Each page has a short 3-5 note melody that you can assign syllables to or sing on "la."

Time Signatures Overview
This Smart Notebook file contains an introduction to Time Signatures. Perfect for intermediate elementary students, the file includes 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, and 6/8 time. After a basic overview of the concept of time signatures, I have included two different types of activities to practice their skills: sort a set of given rhythms into 3/4 and 4/4 time, and draw in the barlines in a given time signature.

Students are given two melodic patterns consisting of Do, Re and Mi. The teacher plays one of the patterns, and students determine which of the two patterns the teacher played. This can be done as a whole class or individually.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight
This is an orchestration for use with grades 3-5 or special needs students. Simplified notation is used to allow access for all learners to playing in an ensemble. There are parts for boomwhackers, keyboards, xylophones, recorders, shakers, drums, and hand or desk bells. Winter/Christmas Theme Voice Warm-up - Elementary Music - Pitch Icons So Mi La
This is a quick and simple voice warm up I use to reinforce reading pitch icons. There are no sound files, so you can adapt this for any pitch syllables you prefer.

A Basic Lesson on Copyright and Intellectual Property

Jack Hartman Letter Sounds Songs for the Smartboard
These are two Smartboard slides for Jack Hartmann's songs "Learning Letter Sounds abc" and "Hands up for the letter sounds". This is a fun way for students to practice reading rhythm patterns, and to reinforce the concept of four-beat patterns. Show on the smart board and have the whole class play in teams, or have smaller groups of students play as a music centers game.
