After examining and solving the three problems on the drawing, students must decide... WHICH ONE DOESN'T BELONG? because the answer will not match with the others if you choose to have the students observe by rows. If the students observe by columns, then they will see that the problems differ by the exponents. This math activity will have students activating their prior knowledge, using mathematical terms, and engaging in discussions with their classmates.
