This entertaining and engaging interactive SMART NOTEBOOK lesson (appropriate for grades 4-8) takes elementary music students on a journey through African-American Music and Culture. The journey begins during the Civil War era and continues up through the mid 1900's Jazz era. This particular file is Part 1 of a 3 Part unit. Thumbs Up Thumbs Down Solfege Pattern Game: Level 3
In this SMART notebook file, the teacher will click on the link on each page, and a recorded solfege pattern played on the piano (in the key of D+) will sound. Students simply show you which pattern they hear by giving you a thumbs up or down! A nice, easy informal assessment to see quickly who "has it"!
This file contains level 3 which uses only la-so-mi-re-do.

Solfege Koosh Aural Skills Game!
Students gently toss a kooshball at a dot, which brings them to an aural skills exercise! This game works on identifying patterns sol-mi-do, sol-mi-sol, and mi-sol-do, aurally.
*Come back soon for more levels of this game! These levels will include more varied tonal patterns, even more ways to identify these patterns!
This well help your little ones (and even your not-so-little ones) begin sight-singing and dictation.
