Problem Solving can be a difficult task for many students, especially when they lack the knowledge, skills, and confidence to approach word problems in a successful manner. Dr. Thomas Carpenter, founder of CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) believe that students can be successful in solving math problems when the problems relate to things they know and when they are given the opportunity to explore all possible strategies.
