Kindergarten theme activity for unit on Presidents. I began by reading Martha Brenner's 'Abe Lincoln's Hat' and then asked the students what important things they would want to keep in a tall hat like Lincoln's. The students wrote a sentence about what they would keep and drew an illustration on the inside of the image of the hat.

I use this booklet after reading the book Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak. The children can use the blank books to draw their own pictures to go along with the words on each page.
