I knew this year the students will be required to write a lot of QuickWrites. I wanted a rubric that was rigorous and clear for the students. I noticed the benefit of this rubric as I started grading the students I teach QuickWrites. I was able to immediately identify trends, and it helped take the murkiness out of grading. There is also a list of prompts that you can use with your students. This rubric is a part of the QuickWrite Graphic Organizer set. This set is an amazing tool in scaffolding

Middle and High School (Grades 6-11) SBAC Argumentative Rubric Flowchart

In an effort to make it easier to follow along with the rubric, I created a flowchart diagramming all three scored sections, assuming the task is argumentative in nature. This flowchart can be used to self-score, peer-score, and/or guide students/teachers as they partake in the persuasive/argumentative writing and/or grading process.
