After reading the book Blood on the River by Elisa Carbone as a Novel Study book, we watch Pocahontas as a class. Depending on how much time you have, This can be a 3 day to 1 week. This is how I usually lay it out:Day 1: Quickly review thinking maps and the purpose of venn diagrams. Give them some time to fill in what they know about Pocahontas from the novel (i.e. age, character traits, family history, actions, etc.) Then have them take notes on the movie Pocahontas while they watch the movie.
