This is an extension activity to my Parts of Speech Building Blocks. It follows the color coded system and has students locate specific parts of speech in texts and combine them to form new sentences. So, lots of breaking apart and combining language here! My students always enjoy this activity because it is all hands on and cooperative! No lecture! Their favorite part is making crazy "mad libish" sentences.

I have started using challenges like these once a week during lunch for small groups of junior high students to promote improved social interaction. Students come on a voluntary basis, but some students are referred by teachers because they have limited friendships and/or weak social skills.
