Prepositional phrases task cards is a set of 24 cards that center on a fun little story about aliens.
Students identify the prepositional phrases in each sentence.
Students can then redo the cards to identify the type of prepositional phrase (adjective or adverb).

This set of practice sentences for identifying the functions of prepositional phrases is set up in a "smart chart".
Smart charts are thinking charts that lead students through the step-by-step thinking process of understanding why a prepositional phrase is either an adjective phrase or an adverb phrase.
After teaching grammar for over 20 years, smart charts became a way to break down grammatical concepts so that my students had to think systematically. It is another tool in the toolbox!

These twenty (20) task cards help students practice identifying independent and dependent clauses. These are great for learning centers, paired learning, individual practice and test review.
Students will enjoy the silly story about Bobby Big Foot as they work through the practice.
After students identify the clauses, then they are asked to go back and identify the dependent clauses as either noun clauses, adjective clauses, or adverb clauses.

Task Cards Writing Sentences with Noun Clauses
Use these task cards for review, paired learning groups, or learning centers.
The task for students is to choose from a list of noun clauses and write a sentence with a subject, direct object, indirect object, object of a preposition, or a predicate nominative.
This is a challenging activity so I have provided sample answers for students to "peak" at if they get "stuck".
The skills are two-fold:
1. Understanding the functions of nouns.
2. Applying that knowledge in writing.
