Documentary Project (World History)
How do you design a culminating project that simultaneously holds students accountable for reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while maintaining a high level of engagement?Why do a Documentary? It covers all of the skills of an essay but reduces work and student anxiety. This Documentary project is designed as a Semester capping project that will assess and expand upon the key critical thinking skills (Cause & Effect, Compare & Contrast, Summary & Evaluation and Analysis)

The Struggle for Girl Empowerment in China
Students will be able to
- explain the history of the women’s rights struggle in China and identify key figures in Chinese feminist history,
- evaluate what are the current issues facing girls and women in China today,
- work collaboratively to debate the Family Planning Policy,
- analyze art from today and its meaning for women empowerment in current Chinese society, and
- create feminist posters that reflect Chinese history of women’s rights as well as it current concerns.
