Creating a Monster Activity
This activity allows students to take their deepest fears and make a fictional monster out of it. This goes great if you're teaching "Beowulf", "Frankenstein", or any other book/story dealing with monsters. This is a great activity for any grade level, as it deals with relevancy for the students. This will allow students to get creative, share their fears, and see the connection between fears, monsters, and literature dealing with such topics. This is a common core aligned writing project where students design and publish a board or card game. This is an excellent project for the end of the school year. When everyones’ games are done, to share they play each other’s games. Emphasis is placed on the elements of coherent expository writing and artistic design.
