MY TEACHING STYLE

The Transformational School Counselor will offer ready-made, editable resources that even the best intentioned, competent and trained school counselor does not have time to create. These resources will satisfy a systems approach to leadership and change; there will be resources to help the student, the school counselor, other faculty/staff members and the entire campus community. The resources will be current/relevant, research-based and tailored to the appropriate audience.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a Mexican-American female, from a migrant field working, single parent, low-income home in the Rio Grande Valley, a culturally-rich area along the border of Texas/Mexico. I have over 18 years of public education experience, mainly with Title 1, at-risk students. My temperament as a change agent has provided me the opportunity to enhance the learning culture for the entire campus community that I have worked in, especially for special needs/diverse populations (i.e. various socio-economic/cultural backgrounds, Migrant, Special Education, 504, LEP, court-ordered, GT, etc).
