TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught elementary general and choral music since 2006 in European, Asian, and North American settings, from preschool through 8th grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I take my favorite elements from the Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, and Suzuki methodologies and integrate them into my own teaching style to meet the needs of as many different learning styles as possible. Having grown up in 3 different continents, I love to incorporate a wide variety of musical genres from around the world into my lessons. I am most passionate about helping each and every one of my students discover their own place in the musical world, whether that be as a listener, performer, dancer, producer, conductor, or something else.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My favorite moments usually involve seeing a previously-reluctant learner get excited in class! On a professional level, I have been a presenter at multiple teacher conferences, and was the Elementary Music Chair for Korea International Music Educators Association.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BME (bachelor's in music education) from Wheaton College (IL), MME (master's in music education) from Boston University (MA).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In addition to my teaching job I am a single mother to twin preschoolers. I'm busy but I've learned a thing or two about organization!
