TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Middle School and High School math teacher in North Florida for over 25 years. I teach 8th Grade Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 Honors for High School Credit, and Intensive Math. My current focus is on aligning my class content to Florida's B.E.S.T. standards.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Targeted worksheets based on state standards work best for my students. I focus on Florida's B.E.S.T. standards and common core. Over the last few years, I have been working with students that have attendance issues and big gaps in math foundations. Recording my lessons and posting for my students has been really beneficial. This year I am going to continue growing my video lessons on my YouTube channel in addition to more targeted skill worksheets.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Student focused instructor. Last year half of my Pre-Algebra students scores a 5 out of 5 on Florida's FSA, including two classes of students with severe learning disabilities. In 2022, my school had a 100% pass rate on our state end of year Algebra Exam. That makes 8 out of the last 9 years. :-)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Math Certified Instructor Grades 6-12 by the State of Florida, Business Education Certified Grades 6-12, BA University of North Florida Business Administrations, MA Webster University Human Resource Development

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have a YouTube channel with instructional videos to help students and teachers at https://www.youtube.com/@mr.slopeguy . I am in my last five years in the classroom before retiring and have figured a few things out over the last 26 years of teaching. I have two kids of my own in college that are my pride and joy. :-)
