TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Kindergarten for 20 years. Originally, I went to school to be a Science teacher. I had always worked with young children in some capacity and thought a change would be good. As I worked my way through school, I had several odd jobs. One job required me to go to a Kindergarten Conference. I didn't want to go at all! Interestingly enough, on day one of the conference I met Clifford the Big Red dog. It reminded me of the Clifford my dad gave me when I was four. And you can pretty much say the rest is history. I graduated with a degree in Science and took my first job as a Kindergarten teacher and I have never looked back since. MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is really a mixture of so many things. I am a very hands-on and visual learner myself and I believe my classroom promotes that. I love to jump right in and try new things and hate to sit back and wait. It is hard to define or put to words an exact teaching style because my style is bits and parts of other teachers I have learned from and admired.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2009. I have won several Classroom and Impact grants. I have been the author of Developing Young Scientists, Learning Through Literature and Under One Sun...Celebrating Diversity For Everyone. All grants awared have helped fund classroom and grade level projects in Science, Math, Language Arts and Social Studies.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated in the year 2000 on a Sunday and started my first job in Kindergarten the following Monday morning. I have continued to be a life-long learner.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am the author of the Little Miss Kindergarten and Little Miss Hypothesis blogs. I have found blogging to be the best thing I have ever done for my own teaching. I am inspired by all the teachers that I am lucky enough to connect with. Since graduating I have developed a love for creating materials for the classroom. I enjoy creating anything to fill a classroom need. Within my district, I am a Math and Science Curriculum Writer and Trainer and this truly is a passion of mine.
