TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have seven years of experience working with general and special education students ages three to twenty-one in alternative, charter, and neighborhood Chicago Public Schools. In addition to working directly with students, I have led school-wide attendance and SEL interventions, helped schools develop supportive cultures, trained teachers in trauma-informed care and classroom management techniques, and supervised dozens of school social workers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I work with students, teachers, and families to craft individualized systems of support so that all children can be successful in school and life. Collaborating with community members and organizational partners, I combine individual and systems-level interventions to help children and their families reach their goals. My therapeutic approach is tailored to each student and draws upon trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I am a certfied school social work specialist and licensed clinical social worker. I hold a master's degree in clinical social work with a trauma-informed care certification, and am licensed in the states of Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, and West Virginia. Fun fact: I am also currently in law school and am particularly interested in education law.
