Jean Claire

I have been a teacher for 21 years. It is my dream job! I taught E.S.L. for 2 years and have taught 4th grade for 17 years. I started as a Head Start aide, which was a powerful experience. I was lucky enough to student teach in 1st grade for a year with a wonderful mentor teacher. I was also the high school debate coach for 6 years, which has been helpful with the new Common Core writing standards! I use all the materials I create in my classroom.

I believe in building a strong skill base that helps students feel empowered and successful, and following up with project based learning that engages students and allows them to express themselves.

National Board Certification, 2006. Staff Achievement Award for the Walla Walla School District, 2007.

B.A. with Honors in History from Whitman College, M.A. in Education from Eastern Oregon State College.
