TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I work in an urban high school with diverse and low-income students at a blended learning school. I'm currently wrapping up my fifth year of teaching and am deeply enjoying teaching seniors. I work with the greatest colleagues in the world in probably one of the weirdest schools! We are always trying new things in pursuit of the best way to reach each student as an individual.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My students are practically adults and ready to walk the stage, so I do my best to meet them at their level. I'm pretty laid back and derive a lot of enjoyment from talking to them as they are--young adults about to enter the world and make change happen.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I grew up a military brat, which means my K-12 education was a hodge podge of curriculum from this state and that state, but no matter where I went, I had a book and a pencil in hand. I started college at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and later transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I believe that teachers should work hard during the school day, but that too many lose themselves in this professional and neglect their own self-care and the pursuit of their own hobbies and lives. My hope is to provide instructional tools to help these overworked teachers kick butt during the day so they can party (or read, or snuggle their dogs, or have tea with friends) at night and on the weekends.
