TEACHING EXPERIENCE

The 2016-2017 school year will mark my 9th year teaching middle grades science. I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade sciences, but my love is 7th grade Life Science. I am currently teaching 7th grade Life Science in Georgia. In addition to teaching, I also "host" undergraduate and graduate Education majors in my classroom. I believe in "paying it forward." When I was in college obtaining my BSEd, someone had to offer their classroom for me to come to. Because someone was so gracious to do that for me, I feel it is my duty as a "veteran teacher" to offer my classroom to others.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have a variety of teaching styles because I have such a variety of students. Some times I may do more inquiry lessons, while others may be informative. Whatever helps my students is how I teach.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have had the honor of attending many different conferences and trainings that have helped me grow as an educator. By far my favorite to attend is the Georgia STEM Conference. I have also had the honor of being the content leader for my grade level at my school. This means I attend Benchmark and curriculum planning meetings in my district. However, my biggest honor is being a teacher. I love teaching and sharing my love of science, but I mostly love being able to make a difference in the lives of my students.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my BSEd in Middle Grades Education, concentrating on Middle Grades Science and Mathematics. I received my MSEd in K-8 Science Education. I received my EdS in Curriculum and Instruction. I am currently highly qualified in Middle Grades Education (4-8), Middle Grades Mathematics (4-8), and Middle Grades Science (4-8)

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

As well as being a teacher, I am also a wife and mother. My husband and I have two wonderful children.
