TEACHING EXPERIENCE

We are two teachers with over thirty-five years of combined teaching including teaching multiple groups and grades of students. We teach in an inclusive model, meaning students with varying needs are included in our "regular" classroom. We have spent the majority of these years teaching combined grade levels or working with multiple groups of children.

MY TEACHING STYLE

We focus on providing students critical and creative thinking lessons and encourage students to express their learning in a variety of ways. Project based learning happens regularly in our classroom along with whole group, small group and individual instruction so that all the needs of our students are met-regardless of their learning needs. We regularly take on student teachers as we believe passing along what we've learned is important.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Our classroom has been a demonstration classroom where teachers from all over the US, Canada, UK and South America have visited to learn about our inclusive teaching model. We have regularly presented at universities and professional development sessions to in-service teachers regarding technology, teaching strategies and project based learning assessment models. Our students and their parents regularly contact us years after they've left our classroom to let us know how they're doing.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

University Training: combined we have 12 years of university education including B.A., B.Ed and M.Ed. Other random skills include Orff Music Specialist Level 2, Google Certified Level 2 Educators and we have training in math, reading and writing intervention for upper elementary students. One of the ninjas can play seven musical instruments and one of the ninjas speaks three languages fluently.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

We spend the majority of our time teaching and preparing to teach, but when we take a break we enjoy nature, photography and spending time with family and friends. Both ninjas love to travel, but they have only been able to travel together once. There was more travelling planned but then a pandemic happened. We share all our teaching adventures on our website brainninjas.ca Our ninjas on our logo are from NinjaWoman Clip Art Studio. Be sure to visit her store for great clip art!
