TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been the Curriculum and Learning Director at a private, American school in Costa Rica. I've taught MATH and BUSINESS (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, PreCalculus, AP Calculus, Computer Concepts, Business Principles, and Personal Finance) for the past 15 years in Colorado and in Costa Rica. I also spent a year teaching math classes for grades 1st - 6th.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy using a variety of methods - online videos, discovery learning, structured notes, real world applications, and fun activities that reinforce learning!
My two main goals:
- to find ways to keep students engaged and interested in math and business classes by using a variety of tools and activities
- to make sure students understand the "why's" and not just the "how's" of math

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Internal Coordinator 2012 - renewal of Middle School Association Accreditation

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2003 with a Bachelor degree in Business, specializing in Accounting. In 2008, I earned my Master degree in Secondary Education from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, I moved to Denver in 2004 where I met my husband. From there, we relocated to Costa Rica, where we had two children. We enjoy the Pura Vida life in Costa Rica and I'm fortunate to be able to continue to teach math and business! I LOVE teaching and I am excited to collaborate and share on TpT!
