Description

This mini-unit is perfect for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in January and during Black History Month.

Activities were written with 2nd graders in mind, but they could be easily used as a teacher directed class reading or as a literacy center with any grade.
This Notebook file (to use with a SMART BOARD) contains:
1. A short biography of MLK
2. An interactive time line activity.
3. The main part from the “I have a dream” speech.
4. Comprehension questions.
5. Vocabulary activities
6. Adjectives activity.
File also contains MLK’s photos and quotes in order to help students better understand who Martin Luther King was and why he is an important part of history.

Remember, this is a short close reading type passage that does not touch every part of MLK’s life. It does touch the Montgomery Bus Boycott, I Have a Dream Speech, and the Civil Rights Act. It includes vocabulary such as boycott, segregate, racism and more and all the right adjectives for MLK.
Thank you very much!
