The Civics & Citizenship Curriculum is full of subject specific vocabulary. This unit is built around a vocabulary routine where students complete a 10 minute vocabulary worksheet at the start of each lesson. Repeat exposure to 6 new words each week ensures learning is rigorous and effective. By the end of a ten-week term every one of your students will be confident using 60 subject specific words.

Civics & Citizenship also requires critical and creative thinking. Whole-class discussion is a significant component of this unit, with discussion prompts and guiding questions littered throughout the PowerPoint Presentation. By the end of the unit, students will be thinking deeply about complex topics relating to Civics & Citizenship. All of their learning will be captured via the workbook which students complete as they follow-along with the presentation.

This is a highly scaffolded unit which will engage students of all abilities, supporting low literacy learners and high achievers alike.

Everything is meticulously linked to the Year 7 Curriculum for Civics & Citizenship (Australian Curriculum: Citizens & Laws). There is particular focus on the following general capabilities & cross-curricular priorities:
