I have included the Contents Page in the PREVIEW so you can see how the program is organised. The pages can be used as individual worksheets for a whole class or for intervention. The screener will identify skill deficits and you can ability group accordingly. The ANSWER BOOK identifies games that target skills and has been designed so you can hand it to a teaching assistant to manage the learning. There are alternate strategies suggested when more time is needed for mastery. Home teachers may also find this helpful.

The program is not prescriptive and the screeners extend beyond Year 2 for intervention purposes. For this reason I have used vertical setting out for number in most of the concept development activities that involve place value because I find this is the area most students find difficult. I believe that place value skills are the foundation to success in so many areas of mathematics. Using vertical alignment, MAB and a place value mat is usually effective when other strategies have failed.

There are two types of TASK CARDS with this bundle. The 72 Task Cards within the Program are ACARA referenced and target the range of Year 2 skills. The 100 Task Card Package targets word problems, all operations. They can be added to a Maths Centre and students can work through them at their own rate. A Student Recording Sheet and Answers are provided. They are a good way to generalise the skills learnt in intervention to the classroom situation. Jigsaws is an activity that targets sequencing. They can be used in Maths Rotations or as an independent activity. Certainly, they are are applicable to Intervention when the skill is a deficit.

The Bonus Product is my DOUBLES WORKBOOK. See the Bonus Preview for content.

It's the games that build confidence and ensure skills are mastered. If you take the time to prepare the games and you will have them for years.

The games are predominantly addition or subtraction; however, the DONKEY NUMBER games can be used to match numerals, pop sticks, number names or MAB. This is how I use it in Intervention before playing the game. Playing the game after a focused teaching session consolidates the concept you are targeting. Consolidating skills through these games will contribute to skill development and social skills. Using the same games in Intervention and whole class is inclusive.
