What educators are saying

I printed one of each for my students. They kept these in their Writing folders and referred to them often throughout the writing process. Great resource!
I absolutely love this writing sidekick. I Love that it has all of the writing essentials that students need when writing. My students benefit from this, especially when writing independently and having spelling words right in front of them.

If you're anything like me, you find yourself begging your students to apply the skills they have learned in your mini-lessons. No matter how many times you remind them, they always seem to forget the skills you are trying to get them to practice independently!

These writing sidekicks are PERFECT for students to put out on their desks while they are writing. They also work as great study carrels to keep students focused on their writing.

Works for grades 3-5 (and maybe beyond, depending on your student's needs!)

Sidekicks include information on:

  • FRONT- Parts of Speech, 4 Purposes of Writing, Transition Words
  • INSIDE- Students monitor where they are in the writing process, dialogue rules, other ways to say said
  • INSIDE- How to write a paragraph, Capitalization rules, complete sentences, fragments, run-ons, editing marks, comma rules, ending marks
  • BACK- Contractions, homophones, and word wall

Using a folder or filing folder, glue each page to the front, insides, and back of the folder. Laminate the folder so students can use it all year!
