Back to School Writing - There are more than 250 writing prompt task cards plus recording sheets for most of them. This is your writing center for the year! Set 1 Updated - Over the years I've had requests for slight modifications so I've included all those sets - there is one set asking for no specific number of things (says, "write all you know" vs. "list three things", there is a SPANISH version as well as a set created for an SLP where the wording is "Turn to your partner and talk about......" for oral language skills.

I use these writing cards with my first grade class as a Work on Writing activity during our Daily 5 rotations. Students complete these in their writing journal which is just a composition notebook.

I number the cards on the back after I print them on card stock and laminate them. They write the card number on their paper so I know which one they have done.

I have one set out for a month or so, then put them away for a month or so, and then pull them back out. It is one of the Work on Writing activities they LOVE.
