What educators are saying

This is exactly what I was looking for to help my students with their writing. It gives them a nice prompt, but allows them to think of their own sentence(s) as well.
I love these prompts. We are incorporating more SEL into our day this year and this is an easy way for me to carry over concepts covered in our morning meetings into independent writing centers. I love that I have a choice of lines and that the prompts include a word bank and an editing checklist.

Picture-Word List

Students are given a picture-word list on each writing mat with related clip art to match the writing prompt and topic. There is a space to draw a picture and the word list provides support for spelling.

Writing Checklist

There is a writing checklist at the bottom of each sheet to help students remember what they need to include in their writing passage. They can review the items before writing, refer to them during, and color in the check marks after to show they have used the writing conventions. The digital version of this for Google Slides includes moveable checklist objects that kids can use to interact with the list after their writing is complete.

See the DETAILED PREVIEW for a look at the 50 SEL topics included, as well as a breakdown of what an SEL Writing Mat looks like and how it can be used.

TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Renee E. says, "I love the different options for printing each one. We use it as part of our SEL block and it fits in perfectly. The word banks are so helpful and get the kids started. I would love to see a prompt or question on each version and a way to print all of one type. For example, I am using the mats with the writing lines and the sentence starter. Maybe I missed an easier way to do it, but right now I have to go in and print certain pages and it's easy to print the wrong one on accident. Thank you for this amazing resource."
