It’s no secret that students love being given choices when it comes to learning. We also know how important it is for students to practice writing as often as possible. Writing Menus give students the opportunity to decide what they want to write about for daily writing in the classroom or for homework.
This resource includes 12 monthly choice boards with a variety of engaging writing prompts and tasks. There are 20 prompts per menu with monthly themes.
The prompts are categorized with a point value, based on the amount of time and effort they should take. As a teacher, you get to decide how many points you want your students to earn each month. Students get to decide which prompts they want to complete in order to meet the assigned number of points! It’s that simple!!
Assign these menus for homework, literacy centers, writing workshop, morning work, or enrichment for early finishers.
A scoring guide and covers for journals, notebooks, and folders are also included.
This resource comes in two different formats:
- Printable Menus: Copy these menus for students each month. Please note that the printable menus are NOT EDITABLE.
- Digital Menus: These are available in both Google Slides and PowerPoint. The prompts ARE EDITABLE with these digital versions.
