This resource is a comprehensive list of writing learning intentions for Years 0-3. These learning intentions cover Levels 1b, 1p, 1a, 2b and 2p are structured into the following categories: Planning, Ideas and Language Features, Sentences, Punctuation, Spelling, Skills, Handwriting, Proofreading/Editing, and Presenting. These learning intentions are designed to inform teacher planning and to be shared directly with students. These writing progressions are detailed and explicit to provide maximum clarity for teachers in relation to the knowledge and skills students need to learn and develop at each level. All of the MAPs resources directly relate to these learning intentions (and those in the Reading Learning Intentions document), making explicit connections between teaching materials, learning experiences and learning outcomes. This resource has been developed with reference to the New Zealand English Curriculum (Levels 1 and 2); the Reading and Writing Standards; and the Literacy Learning Progressions. It also draws on The National Curriculum in England (English- Key Stages 1 and 2) to provide more clarity and detail in relation to phonics and spelling learning outcomes.
