What educators are saying

Fun musical version of Would you rather. The kids always like these type of games and it's a great ice breaker for the first day of music class.

Description

“Would You Rather” cards are great for getting to know your music students any time of year! These are especially great during back-to-school or the end of the school year, and are perfect if you have a few minutes remaining in class. These cards are great for getting to know your students through virtual / distance learning as well!

This product features 30 question cards, blank cards for you or your students to create your own prompts, and writing prompt pages for student journaling.

These questions will help you get to know your students and help them get to know each other. Students love this activity and it is great for facilitating higher level and critical thinking. Not only do students have to choose between two options, you can extend the activity by having students explain their thinking behind their choice.

Ideas of ways to use:

  • Put cards at centers for discussion or journaling
  • Display on the board for a whole class discussion (You can have kids choose by a show of hands and then facilitate a discussion.)
  • Have students discuss in pairs
  • Use the question as a classroom poll or for attendance (Display the question slide on the board, and students can indicate their answers by writing their name underneath their choice, or with magnets.)
  • Have students come up with their own creative “Would You Rather” questions to pose to the class.

Note: Looking for more icebreakers and fun activities for your music classroom? This product is paired with a "2 Truths and a Lie for the Music Classroom" and "Never Have I Ever" as part of my "Tried & True" Music Classroom Community Building / Icebreaker Bundle which you can find here.
