In this World History Escape Room with American Sign Language, students are introduced to American Sign Language developed at the American School for the Deaf in Hartford, Connecticut as they uncover details regarding World History. This activity is great for team-building, collaboration, and review!
Students are placed in cooperative teams as they seek to translate four hidden sign language clues regarding important moments in World History, conduct basic research, then crack the Final Code before time expires. Student teams have one class period to solve World History hidden clues, which are available either via paper or on video! Do you have what it takes to win before time expires?
Students use American Sign Language to translate four secret clues, conduct research or use background knowledge, and complete a final clue that incorporates mathematics. This activity works great as centers; distribute the "clues" around the room, or use the included video clues at stations to mix it up! A 60-minute timer is also included to display as student teams try to break the code!
