What educators are saying

This resource has been a lifesaver for my small group centers. The kids know what is expected and love using different materials. Such easy prep!
I used these different stations this past school year, and my kids LOVED them! They were fun, engaging, but easy enough for them to completely understand! It was so easy to change them in and out each week. Great resource.

Description

Multisensory word work centers with recording sheets and visual directions - perfect for beginning readers and ELLs!

Use these word work centers again and again all year! Each activity can be paired with any high-frequency word list or spelling list. Just change out your words as students are ready for a new challenge!

Three visual direction page options, each with a different "step 1" of the activity, are included. Students may be asked to "say and spell", "say and tap", or "read and say each sound" before building the word with manipulatives. Choose the option that is the best fit for your word list and students! "Say and spell" is recommended for "red" or "trick" words. The other two options are ideal for phonetically spelled word lists.

Each hands-on word work activity also requires students to self-assess their learning as they cover the word, write the word on their recording sheet, and then check their word and fix any errors - a research-supported strategy!

Three visual direction page options and recording sheets for the following center activities are included:

Stamp It! – Just add letter stamps and a stamp pad! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, stamp, cover and write, and check and fix.

Build It! – Just add magnet letters! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, build, cover and write, and check and fix.

Build It! (Option 2) – Just add lettered linking cubes! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, build, cover and write, and check and fix.

Build It! (Option 3) – Just add lettered bottle caps! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, build, cover and write, and check and fix.

Build It! (Option 4) – Just add scrabble tiles! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, build, cover and write, and check and fix.

Bead It! (Two Options) – Just add letter beads! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, build, cover and write, and check and fix.

Bend It! – Just add pipe cleaners! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, bend pipe cleaners to form the word, cover and write, and check and fix.

Type It! – Typewriter keys are included right on the recording sheet! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, type, cover and write, and check and fix.

Trace It! – Tons of options for sight word tracing with this center! Add sand or rice in a pencil case, a carpet square, or gel in a plastic baggie, or simply have students trace the word right on the word card. Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, finger trace, cover and write, check and fix.

Make It! – Just add play dough! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, roll playdough into ropes, form the word, cover and write, and check and fix.

Roll It! – Just add dice, dry erase markers, and whiteboards! Students will say and spell, say each sound, or tap, roll a die, write the word the number of times rolled, cover and write, and check and fix.

Write It! (Two Options) – Just add crayons! Students will say, spell, and write in three colors.

That's over 40 center activities in all and every center can be used all year long - just update your word lists as you go!
