Problems are arranged in 3 formats:
1. Journal Strips - Students glue these into their journals and solve. A week of problems per page. Simply makes copies for each student in your class and your weekly problems are ready.
2. Problem Pages - If you are not using journals but still want to decide the strategies your students will use.
3. All-In-One (Problem Pages Plus Strategies) - These pages are ready to go and NO PREP!


These are problems I used with my kindergarten class but the variety of problems make it easy to adapt to many levels. Each set includes 20 problems of varying types plus 5 editable journal strips that you can insert the numbers you wish to use.

To start each year with problem solving we read many counting books and examine the story problems with each. To help with this we start off with the Favorite Characters Problems. There are simple problems to accompany 12 of our favorite counting stories.
From there we move on to different themes to align with other subjects and events that students are excited about.

The files are arranged alphabetically by theme making it easy to find the problems you need when you need them. Also included are supplies for student to add to their math journals (ten frames, number lines, number bonds, etc.) and anchor charts for problem solving strategies.
