    Description

Objective: Students will be able to (1) Identify (2) Assess safety measures for protecting themselves and others inside of the Wood shop (3) Be Evaluated on their understanding of safety procedures when handling tools and equipment in the shop through a summative assessment.

Includes: (1) Agenda/ Outline of the week (2) PPTs and (3) note-taking worksheets for the students (4) Google Form Safety Test with Answers

    Teacher Suggestions:

    • Post as a whole assignment on google classroom instead of many different posts (which are confusing to the kids.) Think of it like a resource bank
    • Send parents/ students the Agenda attached with suggested times for completing tasks and which resources to use.
    • Set deadline on classroom to the last day of the week in order to give students optimal time to complete tasks

Qualifications: Teaching a shop class is not for everyone. Teachers should have an Agriculture Credential or some equivalent legal certification order to teach a shop class. Qualified educators are trained for facilitating student safety with power tools, sharp implements, and task flow within a shop/classroom setting.

    NGSSMS-ETS1-2
Evaluate competing design solutions using a systematic process to determine how well they meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
    NGSSMS-ETS1-4
Develop a model to generate data for iterative testing and modification of a proposed object, tool, or process such that an optimal design can be achieved.
    NGSSMS-ETS1-1
Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions.
    NGSSMS-ETS1-3
Analyze data from tests to determine similarities and differences among several design solutions to identify the best characteristics of each that can be combined into a new solution to better meet the criteria for success.
