Within this packet, we invite you to explore the narratives of five exceptional women whose contributions were instrumental in the Manhattan Project's success.

These pioneering women lent their expertise to explosives chemistry, explored the complexities of nuclear fission theories, provided tireless support to the workforce, conducted crucial reactor tests, and actively participated in the design and construction of the atomic bomb.

Following each biography, you will find one page of informational text which delves into her specific scientific discovery. When creating this product for woman’s history month, I decided that students should be expected to understand the scientific knowledge these women procured for themselves and society.

You Get:

Five (5) personal biographies

Five (5) scientific discoveries and inventions

Five (5) graphic note pages

Activity:

Provided the student one (1) physicist to write about, this student will receive three pages: biography, scientific discoveries and notes. After reading both informational text, the students will complete the notes and turn it in for a grade.

Student:

Ideal student will be in high school, or be a student with knowledge of basic chemistry and has an introduction level understanding of how nuclear fission works. The informational text provided with give students a more in depth look at nuclear fission.

This product is designed for high school science teachers needing to incorporate women's history into their curriculum, while at the same time meet some NGSS standards.
