What educators are saying

My students loved this resource! They enjoyed picking their important woman to research and taking notes on her life. The students were engaged throughout this assignment and I hung them out in the hallway for all to see!
Thank you for this helpful resource! The worksheets are a wonderful way to represent our female achievers!

Description

53 research banner pages (scroll down for the list of names).....a banner piece for every child. March is Women's History Month in the US, so what a great opportunity to learn about the role these fascinating women played in history of the US and around the world. You could also use these any time during the year you are studying these important figures. Don't forget to click on the preview image.

The completed Women's History banners are going to look perfect as a hallway display or within the classroom. You can attach the pieces to yarn and drape them, or you can simply staple them to a bulletin board. They are designed to be a banner, but they don't have to be connected. Hang it at the beginning of March and keep it up all month and even the remainder of the year.

I have marked these Women's History research biography posters for grades 4-6, but I feel they will be most popular in grades 4-5. Please use your best judgment and click on the PREVIEW button above to get a better idea as to what you are purchasing. Some teachers in grades 7-8 may also find these suitable. Once again, look closely and you can decide. :-)

Grab your media specialist, get your computers ready, and have fun learning about some new people. Have the students check out books and complete it as an in-class project. It could also be an at-home project, and then you can have the students report orally.

Another suggestion is to have the students use the banner pieces as an organizer and then use the information to do a more formal writing. Informational text is not provided.

On each poster you will find the name of an influential woman in history along with an image to represent that person.

Students will fill in the below information:

*Their own name

*Birth/Death of individual (if they have died)

*Explain their major accomplishments

*If they could ask the person a question, what would it be

*Obstacle faced

*Education and Job

*Family

*Quote

*Words to describe

******There is also a banner piece that can be printed on the back if you want them to have more research spaces. The students can label these however they would like.

******I have also included color images to add to your banner to make it pop, as well as bow to print and a color image that says "Influential Women".

You will find that some women are more famous than others, but with 53 banner pieces, students could each do a different report. OR, if you want to focus on the more famous people, you could have 2 students do the same person. PLUS, I provided a blank banner if they want to choose someone else. Use them however you would like.
