    Description

Looking for multiple activities for a unit on Women in History? Perfect for distance learning, Women's History Month, biography projects, and social studies lessons in general! This bundle of activities is a great way to enhance your social studies lessons and ensure your students know relevant facts about each modern and historical figure.

    The following activities are included:

Women in History Body Biographies - includes both a printable and digital version in Google Slides™

A sensory figure is a drawing of a historical, living, or fictional figure with first-person descriptions of what they might have thought, seen, heard, touched, said, felt, or otherwise experienced during their lifetime. Students “show what they know” about the figure by writing 1-2 sentence descriptions for their figure’s thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Historical Hoodies Social Studies Project - Women's History

Engage your students with this super fun Women in History activity that integrates art, history, social studies, and literacy and makes a great end of year review! Perfect for Women's History Month, students will think critically about their chosen or assigned historical figure, time period, or major historical event as they apply their knowledge to design a custom hoodie. Before getting started with the design process, students can read a short article or view the included PowerPoint presentation to learn about the 3,000 year history of hoodies and their design. Students will use a combination of colors, patterns, symbols, and text to design their hoodies.

Women in History Graphic Organizers - includes both a printable and digital version in Google Slides™

These organizers allow students to go beyond reading to really interact with the chosen text as they determine which facts are relevant. Each 2-page graphic organizer has space for the following information about each figure: Picture, Lifespan, Important people in their lives, Childhood (how and when did they grow up?), Education & career, Challenges they faced, Major life events, Where are/were they from? (includes mapping component), Accomplishments, Personal characteristics, What lesson(s) can you learn from them?, Quote(s), Other fact(s), Resources where you can learn more

    Women in History Interactive Fan

Students focus on finding relevant information related to each woman's childhood, education, profession, accomplishments, and a personal quote or life lesson learned. These fans are interactive, student-friendly, promote comprehension, keep students organized, are self-paced, look great, promote creativity, and are easy to collect and assess. For maximum durability, I recommend printing them on card stock, but regular printer paper works just fine as well. Clear directions for assembling the fan are included.

Women in History Trifold Graphic Organizers

These brochures are perfect for integrating literacy into other subjects, especially social studies. Each trifold brochure has space for the following information about each figure: Picture, Lifespan, Important people in their lives, Childhood (how and when did they grow up?), Education & career, Challenges they faced, Major life events (includes timeline component), Where are/were they from? (includes mapping component), Accomplishments, Personal characteristics, What lesson(s) can you learn from them?, What set them apart from others who lived during their time, Quote(s), Other fact(s), Glossary/Words to Know, Resources where you can learn more

    Women in History Coloring Pages

Biography coloring sheets make a great addition to your biographical read alouds or biography projects. There are many ways to use them including:

    • Early finisher activity
    • Use them for bulletin board or classroom decor
    • Color, cut them out, and glue them to popsicle sticks to make puppets
    • Print 4 per page and use them to make mini books
    • Print even more per page and use them to make trading cards
    • Have students teach one another about their figure(s)

    Women in History Flip Books

Easy-to-assemble Who Was flipbooks will help students organize their biography research as they learn about modern and historical figures in women's history. They make a perfect companion activity to the Who Was books series, and can be used for book reports and biography projects. Each flipbook has space for information related to: Picture, Lifespan, Childhood (when & how did they grow up?), Where they're from (includes map), Important people in their life, Education, Career, Personal characteristics, Accomplishments, Challenges they faced, How they overcame challenges, Lessons we can learn from them, Things you may not know, Quote(s), Timeline of life events, Resources to learn more

Please see the descriptions of each activity to see who is included.
