What educators are saying

Great way to come back from winter break. My students were excited and engaged and loved the idea of solving a big problem. This has opened my mind to using escape rooms in my kindergarten classroom, and this will not be the last one we do. Thank you.
This was the very first escape room that I purchased and used on one of my first grade classes to see how it would work out and they all loved it!! So I used it with all of my classes and they want to do more in the future!

Description

Oh no! Freezy the Snowman has been locked in the warm ski shop! If he can't get out he will completely melt! Can your students use their math and problem-solving skills to help Freezy's friends solve the clues and figure out the combinations to the locks in order to save Freezy Snowman?

This fun, easy to set up (no props needed) escape room will keep your students engaged and learning during the long winter months! They will love finding and figuring out the clues and lock combinations that will help free Freezy Snowman before he melts! It is a great way to practice and review skills while working together as a team!

I have also included a bonus activity. After students have solved all the clues and set Freezy Snowman free, they can use inferencing and deductive reasoning skills to help his friends eliminate suspects from their list and figure out which one locked up Freezy.

If you have never done an escape room with your students before, no worries! You will receive:

  • Teacher instructions for preparing (no props needed - large envelopes are optional, just print & go), setting up, and conducting the escape room
  • Table of Contents
  • Whole-Class & Small Group Instructions
  • Story Cards & Written Narrations for Each (color, black/white, & optional Google Slides versions) - sets the stage for the escape room and gets students "hooked". Print out the story cards & written narrations OR use the ink-saving digital Google Slides version (show the story slides & read the narrations from the notes section).
  • Printable Clues and Answer Sheets - puzzles, hidden pictures, activities that review skills
  • Instructions for Each Clue
  • Printable Answer Keys
  • Bonus Activity: List of Suspects - students will use inferencing and deductive reasoning skills to eliminate suspects until only one remains

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
