    Description

    This Winter theme "Build a Snowman" Adapted Book and Craft Bundle for autism, speech therapy, and special education will be a great addition to the fall season.

    Students will practice identifying colors, shapes, body parts, quantity, etc...

    Use this activity as a whole group or individually. You can repeat both the book and craft several times and encourage tons of communication with the sentence prompts included.

    Adapted Book- (**This is not a new book, just a new craft and bundle. :) )

    This Snowman or Winter themed Adapted book “Build a Snowman” is an interactive way to practice identifying colors, numbers, shapes, and basic concepts using repetitive text.

    Students choose the shape of the eyes, nose, color and type of hat, shoes, and scarf, mittens, as well as the quantity of buttons, emotion of mouth, and length of arms. Each part is attached to the snowman body page for students to build their own unique snowman. After choosing each part of the snowman, students will fill in a sentence by choosing the correct icon describing the part by color, type, or quantity.

    For example: “My snowman has [long] arms.”

    “My snowman has a [black] hat.”

    “My snowman has [2] buttons.”

    This book can be used over and over to create different snowmen.

    Visuals are included in the sentences to help identify words while reading the sentence aloud.

    Included:

    -cover page

    -1 snowman body page

    -9 book pages with fill in the blank sentences and visuals

    -9 pages of snowman parts (eyes, nose, mouth, hat, mittens, arms, scarf, buttons, boots)

    - 26 choice icons with pictures

    Craft & Communication Activity

    This Winter or Snowman theme "Build a Snowman" Craft and Communication activity for Autism, Speech Therapy, and Special Education is an interactive way to practice identifying colors, shapes, body parts, emotions, and counting using repetitive text.

    Students choose the shape, style, or emotions of the snowman parts. Then color, cut, glue, and match onto the snowman template. 2 templates are included- blank and with shadow matching prompt. 2 versions of "snowman parts" are also included- one for students making choices and one without. After choosing each part, students will fill in a sentence using a sentence strip prompt to say the shape, color, quantity, or part of the snowman. Sentence strip prompts and icon choices include only the parts of the snowman, color, and then other describing words (shape, emotions, quantity, etc...) You can use the sentence prompt page as a group or have one for each student.

    If you choose, you can add the parts labeling page. There are 2 templates included (with and without shadow matching prompt.) You can also just match the parts icons onto the snowman. (eyes, nose, arms, etc...)

    •Use the sentence prompt pages to talk about the parts that you put on the snowman.

    (just parts, colors, shapes/emotions, mix.)

    •“My snowman has eyes.”

    •“My snowman has a red hat.”

    •“My snowman has 3 buttons.”

    •“The color is orange.”

    •“My snowman’s has long arms.

    This activity can be used individually or as a whole group. The sentence strip prompts can be used as a single page or in a file folder format.
