Winning and Losing EDITABLE Social Story

Winning and losing can be challenging concepts to grasp for many children, and this often leads to dysregulation and inappropriate social reactions. This can be especially challenging for children with social difficulties or limited communication abilities.

Children on the Autism Spectrum can often find it most difficult to pick up social cues and behaviours without added supports in place, and social stories are commonly used to convey appropriate and expected social behaviours.

However, all children can benefit from learning appropriate ways to respond in challenging situations, manage or cope with strong emotions. Therefore, social stories are a great edition to classroom teaching as well as special education programs. Why not read it aloud to the whole class? this can be a great way to promote thoughtful discussion and adopt inclusive practice in the classroom.
